 When is video arbitration used?
The referee can resort to video refereeing in three cases that can radically modify the course of a match, as well as if the identity of a player is confused.

Football and gloved hand
GOALS
The role of the video assistants is to help the referee determine if there has been an offense that prevents a goal from being awarded. Once the ball has crossed the goal line, the game has already been interrupted, so the rhythm of the match is not affected.

PENALTY

IDENTITY CONFUSION
If a referee does not caution or send off the player who must, or it is not clear which player has committed an offense, the video assistants can inform the referee so that he can sanction the relevant player.

How does video arbitration (VAR) work?
FIRST STEP
An incident occurs
The referee informs the video assistants, or the video assistants recommend to the referee that a decision or incident be reviewed.
